Break your back habits.
At work. After work.

Years ago back pain sufferers were prescribed bed rest. Now we know that resting for more than a day or two may actually prolong pain and recovery. Whether at work, or after work, the sooner we get moving and back to regular activities, the sooner we will feel better. The Back Pain: Don't take it Lying Down campaign is focused on educating Albertans that staying active is the best treatment.

Seasonal Tip >

swimmerSwimming is a great low impact activity to help manage back pain. It’s gentle on joints, and helps keep muscles strong. Before hitting the pool keep these tips in mind:

Check with your doctor to make sure this activity is right for you.

Use proper form and techniques.

Consider using a snorkel to reduce the chance of twisting the neck or shoulders.

Use alternate strokes to avoid muscle strain.

Go at your own pace.
